Our libraries are one of our greatest resources. Can you imagine a community without one? The Tri-Valley Public Library has been providing reading enjoyment and more for years.

They provided the following:

The Tri-Valley Public Library is a very busy place in 2016. Our librarian for more than 20 years retired at the end of last year. Our new librarian, Ashley Wlodarczyk, is busy learning about our library, our programs and our patrons.

One of her new endeavors is Fill–a-Bag February. During the month of February, anyone can come to the library and fill a grocery bag with books for only $5. They can also buy individual books. Paperbacks are 50 cents and hardcovers are $2 each. Winter is the perfect time for book buying since everyone needs a good book to read during snowstorms.

During March and April, Storytime will be held for children ages 3 to 5. Contact the library for dates and times or to register your child. There is no cost for this program, but they encourage advance registration to ensure they have enough supplies.

Additionally, they continue to host group meetings. TOPS meetings are held at 6 p.m. Monday evenings. The Alzheimer’s Support Group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. A staff member from Rep. Mike Tobash’s office is on hand every Friday morning for anyone who needs information from the representative. The Friends of the Library group meets at 6:30 p.m. every third Wednesday. They invite you to join them.

The Friends of the Tri-Valley Public Library Group have a busy season ahead. The Friends Drive letters, the annual donation drive, are currently being sent out. They ask the public to help to keep the library open and functioning by kindly supporting the fund drive. No donation is too small.

On March 13, the Friends Group will hold its annual bingo at the Sacramento Firehouse. The doors open at 1 p.m., early bird games start at 1:45 p.m. and regular bingo games start at 2 p.m. Prizes include Longaberger Baskets, Tastefully Simple products and a few surprises.

On April 16, the Friends Group will bring back Fun Day at the Library from 9 a.m. to noon. The free event is for children under the age of 12. The event will include bingo with book prizes, games, crafts and light refreshments.

On May 1, the Friends Group will host a new fundraiser, The Veritea Show. The Library Tea will include four courses and entertainment. The doors open at 1 p.m. with activities starting at 1:30 p.m. Watch for more details. Advance tickets will be available at the March 14 bingo and ticket purchase will run through April 15. Mark your calendars and they hope to see you for this fun event.

With so much happening, they’re in the need for volunteers. The Friends Group needs help with all of their activities and the library needs help doing the everyday jobs needed to keep the library running.
