Pottsville Rotary
Pottsville Area High School seniors Brittany Buleza and David Leymeister and Nativity BVM High School seniors Shannon Reiley and Collin Larkin were honored as Pottsville Rotary students of the month for November.
Shannon, a daughter of Andy and Marie Reiley, Pottsville, plans to attend King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, to study in the physician’s assistant program.
Collin is a son of James and Joan Larkin, Minersville, and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Parish, Minersville, where he is a lector. His extracurricular activities include marching and concert bands, math and science clubs and golf team. He plans to attend the University of Notre Dame or Cornell University to major in biomedical engineering.
Brittany is a daughter of Dave and Joan Buleza, Pottsville. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish and French National Honor societies and National So-ciety of High School Scholars. She plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania or Drexel University, Philadelphia, to study in the nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant program.
David, a son of Mike and Deb Leymeister, Pottsville, is a member of the National Honor Society and a four-year member of the golf team. He plans to attend Penn State University, University Park campus, or North Carolina State University to study computer science and robotics.
Pottsville Area High School seniors McKayla Jones and Andrew Horst and Nativity BVM High School seniors Cecelia DiNicola and Travis Steele were selected students of the month for December by Pottsville Rotary.
McKayla, a daughter of Michael and Pamela Jones, Pottsville, is a four-year member of the Leo, French and ecology clubs, a three-year member of SADD and a member of the National Honor Society and French National Honor Society. She earned varsity letters in track and field her freshman, sophomore and junior years, including being the second-highest point scorer on her team her junior year.
She plans to attend DeSales University, Center Valley, and enter the physician assistant program.
Andrew, a son of David and Lori Horst, Pottsville, is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish club, and played baseball for two years at PAHS. He is an active member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Schuylkill Haven, and plans to attend Bloomsburg University and major in accounting.
Cecelia, a daughter of Dino and Lorna DiNicola, Pottsville, attends St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. She is involved in the Interact Club, volleyball, yearbook, student government, math and science clubs and Student Ambassadors.
As a speaker at the Rotary meeting, Cecilia thanked the club for its donation to her fundraiser, “Giving Our Gift,” where she purchased toys to be donated to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She plans to attend a four-year university and major in business.
Travis, a son of Richard Steele and Karen Ferenchick, Pottsville, attends St. Patrick Church. He is a member of the National Honor Society and earned a varsity letter in both football and track.
Travis plans to attend a four-year college and pursue a business career.
Frackville Rotary
Julia Sendatch, a junior at North Schuylkill High School, was honored as the Frackville Rotary student of the month for December at a club meeting held at Cracker Barrel Restaurant.
Julia is a member of the varsity academic team and debate team and Schuylkill County’s VISION program. She is a member of the high school’s marching, concert, jazz and pit bands and plays the bass clarinet and tuba.
Julia has volunteered as a musician at church Christmas shows. She has been honored as a Lebanon Valley College Honor Band member and has participated in Schuylkill County Band and District Band. She was selected to go to Florida, where she competed in the debate competition.
Julia is interested in the study of genetics.
Shen Rotary
Kyle Guers, a Shenandoah Valley High School senior, was named student of the month for December by the Shenandoah Rotary Club.
His high school activities include track and field (district champion, state meet participant, all-area hurdler), drama club, football, Schuyl-kill County Youth Summit, National Honor Society, gifted program, student council and float committee. He is also class president.
Kyle’s community service includes Relay for Life, volunteer for yard markers/chains, Heritage Day and Schuylkill Keep It Pretty; American Red Cross blood drive, fundraiser for a student who passed away, SPCA and Toys for Tots fundraisers, Greater Shenandoah Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Lighting Fund canvassing, fire victim fundraiser, Special Olympics, Christmas fair and elementary book fair volunteer, numerous student council service projects and school representative at the ADL Youth Conference.
Kyle is a son of Ray and Ellen Guers, Shenandoah Heights, and plans to attend college and major in engineering or mathematics.
