3 businesses cited
for liquor violation
Three Schuylkill County businesses were cited by the state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for violations of the state Liquor Law.
Agents said Washington Avenue Six Packs To Go, 33 N. Main St., Shenandoah, was cited for failing to comply with an order of an administrative law judge mandating responsible alcohol management training between Sept. 18 and Jan. 6.
The West End Fire Company No. 1 of Saint Clair, 321 Broad St., Arnots Addition, was charged for various dates for failing to maintain cleaning records for alcohol dispensing systems. The business was also charged with allowing the purchases of alcohol to be paid for by checks other than those of the license and also for transporting alcoholic beverages without a license.
Finally, the Ashland Elks Home Association, 232-238 Centre St., Ashland, was charged with possessing or operating gambling devices or paraphernalia and allowing lotteries, pools or bookmaking on a licensed premises. In addition, the business also failed to have its board-approved manager complete the required training within 180 days of his or her approval or appointed as required by law.
The charges against the businesses now come before an administrative law judge who can impose penalties between $50 and up to $5,000 as well as suspending or revoking a liquor license.
Man charged for
assaulting girl, 5
ELIZABETHVILLE — A 27-year-old borough man was charged by state police at Lykens with assaulting a 5-year-old girl about 11:05 a.m. Monday at 46 W. Main St. in this Dauphin County community.
Police said Bradley A. Deitrich was charged with aggravated assault of a child, simple assault, harassment, endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person.
Police said that they and Dauphin County Children and Youth Services were called to the home for a report of an assault of a child and found the girl with multiple injuries to her face and eye area.
It was determined that Deitrich, the boyfriend of the child’s mother, assaulted the child by hitting her in the face.
When interviewed, police said, Deitrich admitted that he struck the child. He was subsequently placed under arrest and taken to the Dauphin County Judicial Center for arraignment.
Teen charged with
disorderly conduct
TOWER CITY — A 16-year-old Williamstown boy was charged with disorderly conduct by state police at Lykens after an incident Monday at Williams Valley High School in Williams Township, Dauphin Count.
Police said the teen caused a disturbance by yelling profanities while in class causing the teaching to other students to be disrupted.
The teen will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Rebecca Margerum, Elizabethville.
Man charged
for guns, drugs
WICONISCO — A 53-year-old Lykens man was charged with felons not to possess firearms and possession of drug paraphernalia by state police at Lykens on Monday after an incident at 1783 Pottsville St. in Wiconisco Township, Dauphin County.
Police said Clark Alan Barder will have to answer to the charges before Magisterial District Judge Rebecca Margerum, Elizabethville.
Police said Barder was found to be in possession of eight handguns and 12 long guns and was prohibited from possessing the weapons due to prior criminal arrests.
In addition to the weapons, police said Barder was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Woman charged
with retail theft
McADOO — A Middleport woman was charged with retail theft by McAdoo police after a Feb. 3 incident at Fegley’s Mini Mart on Kennedy Drive.
Police said Corina Leach, 18, will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
Police said officers were called to the store for a theft and while reviewing security video saw a woman, later identified as Leach, walk into the store, go to a back aisle and pick up a drink.
The woman is then seen walking back to the end of the candy aisle and putting an item she had in her hand into her shirt, police said, adding that Leach then reached for another item several times putting that into the pocket of her shirt as well.
Leach then exited the store without paying, police said.
