Car flips over

in Rt. 924 crash

SHENANDOAH — State police at Frackville said three people suffered minor injuries when a car flipped over Saturday on Route 924, the Gold Star Highway.

Police said Kurtiss McKee, 36, of Shenandoah, was driving a 2005 Hyundai Elantra northbound at 2:43 p.m. south of East Main Street when he failed to follow a slight left curve in the roadway. Police said his vehicle traveled off the east shoulder and struck the embankment.

After striking the embankment, his car spun clockwise and traveled about 30 feet on top of the guide rail. It then overturned through the northbound lanes and came to rest on the concrete median facing east, police said.

McKee and two passengers, a 9-year-old female and a 7-year-old female, were transported to Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street via Shenandoah Ambulance, police said, noting that all occupants were wearing seat belts or restraints.

Police charged McKee with failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.

Gilberton Fire Department assisted at the scene.
