Police investigate
strange incident
PORT CARBON — Port Carbon police are investigating a suspicious incident involving a 12-year-old girl that occurred Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the child reported getting off of a school bus near Jackson and Washington streets between 3:15 and 3:25 p.m. when a late-model, light green Ford Explorer stopped on Jackson Street while she was walking toward her home.
The child said a white man, between 5-feet 7-inches and 5-feet 10-inches tall, exited the passenger’s side and grabbed the girl by her shoulder, police said. The girl swung her shoulder back, at which time the man said he was sorry, jumped back into SUV that then sped away, making a left turn onto Coal Street.
Police said the man was described as having a thin build, short salt and pepper hair, possibly missing teeth and was wearing a brown jacket and black sweat pants. The SUV, police said, had a black star sticker and a yellow star sticker with words on the back.
Anyone with information is asked to call Port Carbon police at 570-628-3792.
