n Ashland: Ashland: The borough office will be closed Sunday in observance of Presidents Day.

n Gilberton: St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church in the borough’s Maizeville section is taking orders for homemade Easter eggs with pickups set for 10 a.m. to noon March 13. The cost is $10 per dozen and the deadline to order is March 5. Flavors include peanut butter, coconut cream or butter cream. n Pine Grove: St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 277 S. Tulpehocken St., will have a free storytime and cereal bar from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 20. According to a release, there will be a “bounty of topping and cereals” followed by a story read by the pastor plus a craft activity. For more information, call 570-345-3207. The church will also have The Banner Days for a benefit concert from 6 to 8 p.m. March 13. The Banner Days group is from Seattle, Washington. Offerings will be accepted to support the youth program.

n Pottsville: The U.S. Postal Service, Central Pennsylvania area, has announced that all post offices will be closed and there will be no residential deliveries — only deliveries of Priority Express Mail — on Monday in observance of the Presidents Day holiday. Mail from collections boxes will be retrieved in limited areas on the holiday. Stamps are available at most grocery, pharmacy and convenience stores, postal officials said in the release. n Pottsville: The Green and Gold Booster Club of Nativity BVM High School will sponsor a surf-and-turf bingo from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the school, One Lawtons Hill. The cost is $20 and participants will have the opportunity to win gift cards for seafood and meat. Bingo games will begin at 1 p.m. Homemade food will be available. n Pottsville: Kindergarten registration in the Pottsville Area School District for the 2016-17 school year will be held at the academic center, 1501 W. Laurel Blvd., from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 29 for those with last names beginning with A through L; March 1 for those with last names M-R and March 2 for those will last names S-Z. For working parents, A through Z, the district has added two evenings, 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 29 and 6 to 8 p.m. March 2, to register. It is not necessary for children to accompany parents/guardians to registration. Parents/guardians will need proof of age (children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 for kindergarten), immunization record, three proofs of district residency and custody paperwork/guardianship if applicable. Screening for incoming kindergarten students will be held at John S. Clarke Elementary Center April 25 to 28. The screenings will consist of vision, speech, hearing and readiness. n Primrose: Mardi Gras “Moo-La Madness” sponsored by St. Nicholas Church will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 20 in St. Nicholas Hall, Route 901. The church will also have an advance-ticket-only chicken and halupki dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 21 in the hall.
