Police investigate
home burglary
Pottsville police are investigating a burglary and theft that was reported to their department at 10:47 a.m. Tuesday when officers were called to 606 N. Eighth St. for a residential burglar alarm.
After receiving the alarm, police said the Schuylkill County Communications Center made contact with the owner of the home who was not at home and reported that no one should be inside of the building.
At the scene, police said, a perimeter check was completed during which officers located fresh tracks in the snow originating from the basement area of the home.
Additional officers arrived at the scene along with the homeowner and a check of the interior was completed.
Police said no one was located inside at the time but a white XBox 360, along with approximately twenty X-Box games and one controller were found to be missing.
Through their initial investigation, police said, officers determined the point of entry and were able to track the person’s footprints in the snow.
A subsequent investigation led to officers learning the person responsible was wearing a black sweatshirt and black sweatpants at the time of the incident and was last seen walking south on Eighth Street away from the home.
Police said their investigation is actively continuing and anyone with information is asked to call the Pottsville Police Department at 570-622-1234, Ext. 183.
Man charged with
terroristic threats
SAINT CLAIR — Saint Clair police have filed charges against a borough man stemming from an incident between 3:45 and 6 p.m. Sunday.
Police said Robert A. Sabaday, 58, of 400 N. Mill St., was charged with nine misdemeanor counts each of terroristic threats and simple assault, one misdemeanor count of possessing instruments of crime and one summary offense each of harassment and disorderly conduct.
Sabaday will now have to answer to all 22 charges before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.
Patrolman Frank DiMarco said that officers were called to the Taco Bell restaurant for a report of an armed person and learned that a man in jeans and a gray shirt pulled out what was believed to be a shotgun, raised it and then pointed it at a group of juveniles saying “I’m going to shoot you in the head.”
In the area of 400 N. Mill St., DiMarco said, police saw a group of juveniles who pointed to the Sabaday home and said the man had gone back inside.
Sabaday then exited the house and was taken into custody without incident, DiMarco said.
A video taken by one of the juveniles clearly showed Sabaday with the weapon making threats, DiMarco said, adding that the weapon was subsequently recovered and determined to be a Remington Airmaster 77 pellet/BB gun.
