n Cressona: The Cressona Lodge Order of Eastern Star will sponsor a Chinese auction for heath health awareness from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 26 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 27 at the lodge, South Third and Ash streets. The event will benefit the Eastern Star Heart Fund, which distributes proceeds to people dealing with heart-related issues. A portion of the proceeds will also go to the American Heart Association. n Pottsville: Make-A-Wish will sponsor a Chinese auction and home party show from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 27 and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 28 at Fairlane Village mall. Tickets are $5 each. The event will feature more than 200 prizes and 15 home party vendors throughout the mall. The auction will begin at 3 p.m. Feb. 28 in the old Write Craft space at the mall. All are welcome. n Pottsville: A Deppen pie sale is underway until Feb. 10 by participating libraries in the Pottsville Library District. Pickups are set for Feb. 24 at the participating libraries. The cost is $10 per pie and all proceeds will benefit the libraries. Varieties include blueberry crumb, apple crumb, strawberry rhubarb crumb, cherry crumb, peach crumb, raisin crumb, shoofly, coconut custard, lemon sponge and no-sugar apple. n Pottsville: Mayor James T. Muldowney will deliver the annual State of the City address at 6 p.m. Thursday at the former Pottsville Club, 201 S. 26th St. The public is welcome to attend.
n Shenandoah: Schuylkill On the Move will sponsor a Valentine walk called “Shenandoah Shuffle” from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 14 along “Rotary Way” at the Shenandoah Valley School District campus, West Centre Street. The will be led by John E. Domalakes, Frackville, a walking and history enthusiast who also is a county judge. The hike is dedicated to the late Dr. Stanley G. Rakowsky, Shenandoah Valley superintendent who passed away in 2015. Rakowsky was instrumental in creation of Rotary Way through his “town and gown” initiative to connect the community and school district. In addition to the school district, Rotary Way also involves the Shenandoah Rotary Club and Healthy Schuylkill Communities effort of Schuylkill County’s VISION. The secure walking path is open daily for walkers and joggers. The 1,830-yard trail goes around the district campus, along Stadium Road and to the athletic fields and back. There are no stairs and the trek is rated easy.
