Misericordia
Misericordia University, Dallas, Luzerne County, sponsored the annual Student Research Poster Presentation Day in Sandy and Marlene Insalaco Hall on campus.
The presentations were the culmination of research and work on topics by more than 180 students in the Colleges of Health Sciences, Arts and Sciences, and Professional Studies and Social Sciences.
Zachary Sabaday, Pottsville, a biology major, presented his research, “Effect of Copper Accumulation on Common Duckweed (Lemma minor).” The study tested various concentrations of copper on the proliferation of the duckweed plant in local streams.
Misericordia University presented Jacqueline Ann McMullen, Tamaqua, with the Service-Learning Leadership Award at the annual Honors and Awards Ceremony in the campus’ Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall.
The award is given to a student who is nominated by a faculty member for her community-based work that was initiated in a service-learning course and who shows evidence of active community service and the potential for continued service in a leadership role.
Lycoming
Blake Bowman, Valley View, a junior history major at Lycoming College, Williamsport, was inducted into the Tau Chi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education, held in the Mary L. Welch Honors Hall.
