Minor injuries

in 1-car crash

JONESTOWN — A Williamstown man suffered minor injuries following a one-vehicle accident Jan. 8 along Gold Mine Road, state police at Lykens said.

Police said Richard V. Osag, 65, was traveling south in a 2002 Chevrolet S10 pickup at 5:55 a.m. on Gold Mine Road near the intersection with Route 325.

Osag was driving uphill too quickly for the icy roadway and lost control of his vehicle, police said. The Chevrolet then traveled across the northbound lane and into the embankment on the east shoulder of the roadway, causing disabling damage to the pickup and injuries to Osag, police said.

Osag was transported by Pinnacle Health EMS and taken to the Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment.

STEELTON — A Coca-Cola machine outside the office of the Housing Authority of Dauphin County was vandalized sometime between 3:10 p.m. Dec. 17, 2015, and 8:30 a.m. Dec. 18, 2015, at the 113 Autumn Drive leasing office, police said.

Man arrested

for simple assault

LYKENS — A Lykens man was taken into custody, facing a simple assault charge following an incident Dec. 23, 2015, according to state police at Lykens.

Police said a 34-year-old female reported Dec. 30 that about 9:30 p.m. Dec. 23, 2015, during a verbal altercation, James Tyrone Hayward, 31, of 650 North St., got physical with her. During the altercation, she was shoved by Hayward and hit her head against a door, police said.

The injuries were observed on the female at the time of the report and Hayward was unable to be located on the date of the report, according to police. On Jan. 15, Hayward was located and taken into custody.

Hayward was arraigned at District Court before District Magisterial Judge Rebecca J. Margerum, Elizabethville, on Jan. 15.

2 men arrested

for retail theft

HAMBURG — Two Bernville men face retail theft charges following an incident at 7:05 p.m., Dec. 23, 2015, at Wal-Mart, 1800 Tilden Ridge Road, in Tilden Township, Berks County.

State police in Hamburg said a Wal-Mart Asset Protection Associate observed David Michael Zellars, 25, of 448 N. Garfield Road, and Marc Anthony Rodriguez, 22, of 7443 Main St., enter the sporting goods department with several pieces of merchandise on top of a diaper bag that was sitting in a shopping cart.

The associate then observed Zellars pick up a flashlight. The pair continued to the hardware department where they began concealing the merchandise in the diaper bag, police report. Rodriquez concealed the rest of the merchandise as Zellars acted as a lookout. The pair eventually separated and Zellars went to the front of the store where he passed all points of sale, police said, and exited the store through the general merchandise exit. He was stopped by the associate and escorted back to the Asset Protection Office.

Rodriquez was located in the store and also escorted to the Asset Protection Office, police said. Charges against the two men were filed in district court before District Magisterial Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.

Driver charged

after crash

MAHANOY CITY — A Delano man was charged with numerous offenses after a crash about 4:05 a.m. Dec. 15, 2015, in the 200 block of East Centre Street.

Police said Paul F. Garcia, 150 Willow St., was charged with DUI, DUI-controlled substance, driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked, drivers required to be licensed, not driving on roadways laned for traffic and possession of a controlled substance.

Police said Garcia was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt when he struck a legally parked Dodge Ram, pushing that vehicle into a legally parked Chevrolet Tahoe.

Garcia appeared to be disoriented and inside his vehicle, police said. They found two crushed cans of beer, one by the driver’s seat near the emergency brake lever.

Police said the man was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and when searched was found with a plastic jar with no prescription label and six pills inside. A subsequent blood test at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street revealed Garcia had amphetamine, methamphetamine, Clonazepam and two other drugs in his system.

Woman concealed

runaway teenager

MAHANOY CITY — A 34-year-old borough woman was arrested by Mahanoy City police after an incident about 4:45 p.m. a her 31 S. 10th St. home.

Police charged Jeanette Lynn Hadesty with felony interference with the custody of children, felony concealment of the whereabouts of a child, misdemeanor false reports, misdemeanor corruption of minors and summary corruption of minors.

Police said Hadesty concealed the whereabouts of a runaway 15-year-old girl, denying that the teen was inside her home despite officers going to that location several times to check on the whereabouts of the girl.

Hadesty will now have to answer to the charges against her before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah.
