5 face charges for
Wal-Mart thefts
HOMETOWN — Five people are facing charges by Rush Township police after recent incidents at Wal-Mart in their coverage area.
Police said Matthew Pieth, 26, of Lansford, is facing charges of theft by deception and receiving stolen property after an incident involving merchandise valued at $84.72. Another incident that same day involved Jennifer Mead, 28, also of Lansford, who is facing charges of conspiracy and attempted theft.
Police said Mead tried to return items to the store that were stolen and after being unsuccessful gave the items to Pieth after which the two left the store together.
On Jan. 12, police said a 17-year-old Lansford boy stole items from the store valued at $34.60 and is facing charges of retail theft.
Brian W. Creamer Jr., 27, of Trenton, is facing charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property after stealing items valued at $149.67 from the store on Thursday and William G. Manness Jr., 34, of Tamaqua, is facing a charge of retail theft for stealing merchandise valued at $67.72 on Friday.
Charges against all five will be filed with Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
Police seek owner
of missing tools
FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — The Butler Township Police Department had two bags containing multiple hand tools and cordless power tools turned into the department. Some items are marked or engraved. The tools were discovered in the Walnick Manor section of the township. Anyone who can describe the items, markings or engravings should call the police department at 570-875-4131.
