2 injured in

motorcycle crash

NUREMBERG — Two men from Shenandoah suffered injuries in a motorcycle accident Saturday in East Union Township, according to state police at Frackville.

At 4:39 p.m. Saturday, John Bova, 53, of Shenandoah, was driving a red 2008 Harley Davidson XL 1200C motorcycle south on state Route 924 near the entrance to Eagle Rock Development. He had a passenger, Bonnie Bova, 42. They were not wearing helmets, police said.

The motorcycle was behind two vehicles. Those vehicles slowed near the entrance. To avoid a collision, John Bova hit the brakes and laid his motorcycle down on the road and came to rest in the northbound lane, police said.

John Bova was ejected from the motorcycle and fell in the southbound lane. He suffered moderate back injuries and was transported by Nuremberg EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.

Bonnie Bova suffered severe head injuries and was transported by Luzerne Medic 11 APTS to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Police have questions about the two vehicles in front of the motorcycle. One was a gray or light blue sport utility vehicle, police said. Anyone with information can call state police at 570-874-5300.
