n Ashland: The Ashland Area Rotary Club recently welcomed Ines Carroll of the Bloomsburg Rotary Club. Carroll presented a program on the upcoming District 7360 conference, which will be held April 29 to May 1 at the Penn Stater in State College. Carroll reviewed the plenary sessions that will be held during the weekend, emphasizing the youth speech contest and the youth exchange program, according to the Rotary bulletin. She also spoke about events that will be held each evening and the various sites to be visited. She encouraged club members to consider registering for the gathering.

n Ashland: St. John’s Episcopal Church of North Parish, 13th and Market streets, will have a takeout-only soup sale beginning at 10 a.m. April 16. The cost is $7 per quart. For more information, call 570-429-7107.

n Frackville: The auxiliary of Frackville American Legion Post 398 will have a basket auction May 1 with a shop-and-drop from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 30 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 1 at the post home, 40 S. Mahanoy St. Food will be available both days and people need not be present to win. For more information, call 570-874-4750.

n Hometown: The 11th annual Marian Quarterback Club and Football Alumni Golf Tournament will be held beginning at 10:30 a.m. May 7 at Mountain Valley Golf Course, 1021 Brockton Mountain Drive, Barnesville. The cost is $75. Proceeds from the event will go in support of the Marian football team. The fee includes golf cart, lunch, dinner and beverage. n Mahanoy City: The Mahanoy City Public Library will host an open house from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in celebration of National Library Week and in conjunction with the theme “We do More than Books.” The library, according to a release, will serve refreshments, offer amnesty for late books and DVDs, sign up new patrons for library cards and offer technology assistance. Newly purchased educational games will also be available for use in the children’s book room.

n Minersville: Mountaineer Hose Company will have a breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to noon Sunday at the firehouse, Third and South streets, featuring an “open menu,” according to a company release. For more information, call 570-544-9622.

n Pottsville: The Kiwanis Club of Pottsville will hold a spaghetti dinner and raffle fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Second Street and Howard Avenue, Pottsville. The cost is be $8.50 and children under 8 eat free. Proceeds will benefit the Kiwanis Foundation student scholarships.

n Pottsville: Diakon Living and Learning has a host of activities, classes, workshops and creative initiatives on its agenda to be held at a wide variety of locations. n Pottsville: “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” sponsored by the Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 28 at the Humane Fire Company, 200 Humane Ave. The walker fee is $10. In the event, men of Schuylkill County will don high heels for a walk to help raise awareness of sexual violence. Registration, shoe fittings and festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the walk will begin at 5:30 p.m. Those who don’t have high heels can rent a pair from SARCC. Teams are encouraged. n Schuylkill Haven: Four Walk In Art Center studio artists will have an exhibition Monday through June 10 at the Jewish Federation of Reading, 1100 Berkshire Blvd., Suite 125, Wyomissing. Called the Three Queens and a Joker, artists include Molly Kantner Reed, Kris Miller-Siple, Audrey Bordonaro and Mike McCord. There will be an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Jewish Federation.
